The Alachua County School Board is set to pick a name for its new elementary school on Jan. 17, and one of the candidates is Pegeen Hanrahan Elementary School.
Hanrahan, the former two-term mayor of Gainesville, was among the submissions for the namesake of the forthcoming school off Northwest 39th Avenue, alongside Tim Tebow, George Washington, Go Google It, That and John F. Kennedy.
The leader in the clubhouse is Meadowbrook Elementary, which is the top choice of Superintendent Dan Boyd.
